Event Review: The Los Angeles LGBT Center‘s 13th annual Simply diVine

in Real Talk

The Los Angeles LGBT Center‘s 13th annual Simply diVine, an amazing evening of food and drink for the LGBT community and their allies, this year took place on March 24 at the iconic Hollywood Forever, a cemetery known as a Hollywood landmark.

The event, from 6 to 9 p.m., featured live music, samples of food and drinks from popular West Hollywood and Los Angeles restaurants, wineries, distilleries and breweries. All proceeds will support the LGBT Center’s programs and services. This year the proceeds are going towards building a center for the LGBT youth and homeless youth.

Which of course is an ongoing issue in Los Angeles & it was heart warming to see the turn out in the community joining together to raise money to make a difference.

VIP tickets are $500 and general admission tickets are $150. Both can be purchased online at simplydivinela.org. General admission tickets ($160) will be available at the door.

This year some of the restaurant partners include Blue Window, Border Grill, Café D’Etoile, Connie & Ted’s, Craft, Crossroads, Hinoki & the Bird, Joan’s on Third, Kismet, Melody, Pot, Rao’s, Rossoblu, Shake Shack, Tavern, and The Village Idiot. Hollywood Hot.
Milk Bar had the young chefs from Master Chef Junior running their booth & wow! Those girls have energy and spunk!
Astro Donuts & Fried Chicken had our hearts with their chicken tenders & delicious fresh donut holes!
We enjoyed the event sampling the delicious dishes from the amazing participating restaurants!
We ran into local celebrities YouTube Star & LGBTSentinel ambassador Amber’scloset
& chef extraordinaire Roy Choi & NBC 4 anchor Robert Kovacik!

Our favorite dish had to be the lettuce wrap from Kismet, fresh and crunchy the blend of tastes were amazing. Commissary (Roy Choi) also serves up some an impressive Korean style fried chicken with corn grits. An explosion of spice and fire.

For the drinks we enjoyed a number of cocktails from the different vendors but the crowd favorite was definitely the spicy watermelon margaritas from Hollywood Hot and their partnership with Nosotros Tequila.

Ending the evening with a delicious ice cream sandwich from CoolHaus creamery we will definitely be back next year!
Our bellies full and our hearts filled with positive energy and delicious food and drink!

Thank you for having us and we hope the event continues to aid the LGBT community for many more years to come.
